Σε τουλάχιστον 56 ανέρχεται ο αριθμός των ανθρώπων που έχασαν τη ζωή τους από την ισχυρή σεισμική δόνηση 6,2 βαθμών που έπληξε την Παρασκευή (15/01) την νήσο Σουλαουέσι, στην Ινδονησία, ανέφερε την Κυριακή (17/01) η κρατική Αρχή Διαχείρισης Καταστροφών σε νεότερο απολογισμό της. Πολλοί οι μετασεισμοί που έχουν ακολουθήσει.
Ο εκπρόσωπος της Αρχής τόνισε πως 826 έχουν τραυματιστεί, εκ των οποίων 189 νοσηλεύονται με σοβαρά τραύματα. Νωρίτερα το Σάββατο (16/01) τα συνεργεία διάσωσης εντόπισαν σήμερα τουλάχιστον 10 επιζώντες κάτω από τα χαλάσματα στη Σουλαουέσι. Τουλάχιστον 10.000 άνθρωποι έμειναν άστεγοι. Περίπου 15.000 κάτοικοι βρίσκονται σε προσωρινά καταφύγια.

Ο σεισμός προκάλεσε πανικό στους κατοίκους, στο δυτικό τμήμα της Σουλαουέσι, που είχε πληγεί το 2018 από έναν πολύ ισχυρό σεισμό και ένα καταστροφικό τσουνάμι. Οι αρχές δεν έχουν διευκρινίσει πόσοι άνθρωποι ενδέχεται να παραμένουν εγκλωβισμένοι στα χαλάσματα.
Δεκάδες σοροί ανασύρθηκαν από τα συντρίμμια των κτηρίων που κατέρρευσαν στο Μαμούτζου. Θύματα ανασύρθηκαν και νοτιότερα, όπου έγινε αισθητός το πρωί του Σαββάτου (16/01) ένας ισχυρός μετασεισμός.

Η έλλειψη βαρύ εξοπλισμού επιβραδύνει τις προσπάθειες των διασωστών για να απεγκλωβίσουν τα θύματα, ωστόσο κατάφεραν να βγάλουν από τα ερείπια «τουλάχιστον 10 επιζώντες», ανακοίνωσε ένας εκπρόσωπος των υπηρεσιών διάσωσης.
Οι αρχές δεν έχουν διευκρινίσει πόσοι άνθρωποι ενδέχεται να παραμένουν εγκλωβισμένοι στα χαλάσματα.
Ο Ίσε, ένας κάτοικος του Μαμούτζου, είχε παγιδευτεί με την οικογένειά του κάτω από τα συντρίμμια του σπιτιού του, όταν άκουσε τους διασώστες να αναζητούν επιζώντες.
