Οι δύο πιλότοι του μαχητικού της βρετανικής πολεμικής αεροπορίας είναι ζωντανοί και υποβάλλονται σε ιατρικό έλεγχο, αφότου χρησιμοποίησαν με επιτυχία το σύστημα εκτίναξης από το αεριωθούμενο, το οποίο λίγο μετά συνετρίβη σε αγροτική περιοχή, στη νοτιοδυτική Αγγλία.
Οι πιλότοι δεν έχουν υποστεί απειλητικά για τη ζωή τους τραύματα, δήλωσε μια εκπρόσωπος τύπου της υπηρεσίας Αεροδιακομιδών της Κορνουάλης, η οποία ανταποκρίθηκε μετά τις πληροφορίες περί συντριβής αεροσκάφους στις 11.48 ώρα Ελλάδας.

Το υπουργείο Άμυνας της Βρετανίας ανέφερε, από την πλευρά του, την Πέμπτη (25/03) ότι θα ξεκινήσει έρευνα σχετικά με το περιστατικό, στο οποίο ενεπλάκη ένα μαχητικό Hawk της βασιλικής πολεμικής αεροπορίας, το οποίο ήταν σταθμευμένο σε κοντινή απόσταση από το σημείο της συντριβής στο Χέλστον.
«Οι δύο πιλότοι ελέγχονται από τους γιατρούς, αφότου ενεργοποίησαν το σύστημα εκτίναξης από το αεροσκάφος Hawk», επισήμανε το υπουργείο σε μια ανακοίνωση.
Βρετανικά ΜΜΕ μετέδωσαν πως το πλήρωμα κατάφερε να εγκαταλείψει το αεροσκάφος προτού εκείνο συντριβεί.
