Φόρο τιμής στο πρώτο θύμα της στρατιωτικής καταστολής, μια νεαρή γυναίκα που αναδείχθηκε σε είδωλο της αντίστασης κατά της στρατιωτικής χούντας, απέτινε η Μιανμάρ την Κυριακή (21/02), τη στιγμή που συνεχίζονται οι μαζικές διαδηλώσεις κατά του πραξικοπήματος. Σύμφωνα με τα ρεπορτάζ οι νεκροί είναι δύο, ενώ πυροβολήθηκε και ανήλικος στο κεφάλι.
Η κηδεία της Μία Τουάτε Τουάτε Κενγκ, που χτυπήθηκε από σφαίρα στο κεφάλι και πέθανε την Παρασκευή (19/02), έγινε στα περίχωρα της πρωτεύουσας Νάι Πι Τάου, παρουσία χιλιάδων ανθρώπων που μετέτρεψαν σε διαδήλωση την κηδεία.
Σχεδόν τρεις εβδομάδες μετά το πραξικόπημα της 1ης Φεβρουαρίου, οι κινητοποιήσεις διαμαρτυρίας δεν έχουν αποδυναμωθεί ούτε στο ελάχιστο και δεκάδες χιλιάδες άνθρωποι κατέκλυσαν τους δρόμους των μεγάλων πόλεων της χώρας και την Κυριακή 21 Φεβρουαρίου.
«Είμαστε έτοιμοι να πεθάνουμε. Θα πολεμήσουμε μέχρι το τέλος. Εάν φοβόμαστε, δεν θα καταφέρουμε να ανατρέψουμε τη χούντα», είπε ένας 26χρονος διαδηλωτής στη Γιανγκόν, την οικονομική πρωτεύουσα της χώρας.
Την Κυριακή (21/02), διαδηλωτές συγκεντρώθηκαν και στο Μανταλέι, θέατρο των φονικότερων ταραχών μετά το πραξικόπημα και η αστυνομία άνοιξε πυρ εναντίον όσων είχαν πάει για να στηρίξουν τους απεργούς σε ένα ναυπηγείο, οι οποίοι διαμαρτύρονταν κατά του πραξικοπήματος. Όπως αναφέρθηκε δύο άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους.
