
Τουλάχιστον 19 άνθρωποι σκοτώθηκαν την Παρασκευή (26/03) στο σιδηροδρομικό δυστύχημα που σημειώθηκε στη νότια Αίγυπτο, ανακοίνωσε το Σάββατο (27/03) η υπουργός Υγείας της χώρας αναθεωρώντας προς τα κάτω τον αρχικό απολογισμό των 32 νεκρών.
Σύμφωνα με την υπουργό Χάλα Ζαγέντ, ο αριθμός των τραυματιών ανέρχεται σε 185. Το δυστύχημα σημειώθηκε στην περιοχή Σοχάγκ όταν συγκρούστηκαν δύο τρένα.
Ήδη, έχει ξεκινήσει έρευνα για το δυστύχημα που σημειώθηκε όταν σε μία αμαξοστοιχία της γραμμής Λούξορ – Αλεξάνδρεια ενεργοποιήθηκε το σύστημα πέδησης έκτακτης ανάγκης από αγνώστους, αναγκάζοντας το τρένο να σταματήσει και να χτυπηθεί από ένα άλλο τρένο που πραγματοποιούσε το δρομολόγιο Ασουάν – Κάιρο, με αποτέλεσμα να εκτροχιαστούν βαγόνια του.
